Pedro Saucedo and Joe Salaz: the opening encounter
The first major report came from farm workers Pedro Saucedo and Joe Salaz, who contacted the Levelland police shortly before 11 p.m. on 2 November 1957. They said they were travelling west of Levelland when they saw a bright object near the road. About an hour after Saucedo’s call, motorist Jim Wheeler reported encountering a brightly illuminated object on a road east of Levelland.
