How Strong Was the Socorro Physical Evidence?

Introduction

The physical traces at the Socorro landing site are among the strongest reasons the 24 April 1964 Lonnie Zamora case remains significant. Unlike many UFO reports that rely entirely on witness testimony, investigators reached the location within minutes of Zamora’s radio call and documented fresh ground disturbances and scorched vegetation before the site had been substantially altered. Those observations provided independent support for parts of Zamora’s account that an object had rested on the ground and departed with an intense flame. The most frequently discussed physical evidence consisted of four fresh ground depressions arranged in a roughly symmetrical pattern.
