He described the object as roughly egg-shaped, with a rotating upper structure and landing supports. According to his account, several small beings wearing close-fitting clothing and helmets seized him after he left the tractor. He struggled and shouted but was carried into the craft. The best-known and most controversial part of the narrative followed. Villas-Boas said that a naked, human-looking female entered the room and that they had sexual intercourse. He interpreted her later gesture towards her abdomen and then upwards as implying reproduction or pregnancy. He said he was subsequently dressed, shown through part of the craft and escorted outside. This delay does not prove that Villas-Boas invented the account retrospectively. Fontes and Martins plainly possessed a detailed narrative in 1958. It does mean, however, that claims about what was reported “immediately” in October 1957 should be treated cautiously unless supported by a dated original letter, diary, medical record or independently archived document.
What the medical examination actually established
Villas-Boas reported weakness, vomiting, headache, loss of appetite, burning and watering of the eyes, prolonged sleepiness and a series of itchy skin lesions. The symptoms themselves were real at least in the limited sense that Villas-Boas reported them and Fontes saw residual marks. Their cause remains undetermined. Without samples taken during the acute period, the medical record cannot distinguish an extraordinary exposure from a conventional one.
Witness credibility and the absence of corroboration
Supporters of the case often emphasise Villas-Boas’s apparent reluctance to discuss the sexual material, his willingness to undergo extended questioning and his consistency over later years. Fontes wrote that the four-hour interview included attempts to expose contradictions and that the witness appeared embarrassed rather than boastful when pressed about the sexual episode. The Villas-Boas case has a stronger documentary foundation than a story known only through late hearsay. A named witness gave a lengthy deposition in 1958; a physician recorded an examination; the account was preserved in considerable detail; and Villas-Boas apparently maintained it for the rest of his life. Those facts justify treating it as a genuine historical claim rather than a legend with no identifiable origin.
They do not establish an extraterrestrial abduction. The central episode had one witness. The physical symptoms were non-specific and documented too late for a reliable causal diagnosis. There is no verified artefact, instrument record or independent observation of the landed craft. The witness had encountered UFO journalism before giving his formal account, and the long route from private deposition to translated international publication complicates claims of pristine narrative independence.
The fairest conclusion is therefore neither that the case was “proved” by medical evidence nor that it has been conclusively exposed as a hoax. It is an unresolved testimony with serious evidential limitations. Its lasting importance lies in how early and vividly it established the structure of the modern alien-abduction narrative—not in any demonstrated proof that its extraordinary interpretation was correct.
